Hail in Canberra
Hail in Canberra

At 10.30pm, around 30 mins ago, the rain started to pour after 2 hours of continuous thunder and lighting. Everything was usual until suddenly it seems like rocks started to hit my windows. Wind was stronger and crazier. First thought was hail. But it couldn't be, I thought. It's summer.

So I called Melissa to confirm since she has the better view in her room. She denies anything peculiar. Later on, Lyon and I heard more thundering noises and brick smashing sounds. As we analyse closely, it was indeed, hail in Canberra...

People screaming and shouting were enough to justify my case. Then the photography session goes on...

Thanks to this hail, i've spent more money. Trying to call my family. Hopefully they wouldn't be so freaked out when they read it on the newspaper...

at first it was like this..

then became this...

look at the thickness of the ice...

from the front door of Unilodge...

Marie with the chunk of ice!

Then Detective Winnie and Detective Lyon went to the 5th floor, the highest floor of Unilodge to investigate...

The white stuffs are ice, and there was a river of water forming on the pathway...

Leaking water...

The rooftop, with ice hitting...

So there you have it, hail in Canberra...

Not sure whether I should go class tomorrow, we will have to see.

Phone line is dead.

At this moment, it is starting to wear off...

at least i get to have a good night sleep...

Finally i get to sit down and write properly, instead of feeding you all pictures all the time. It's funny how time passes so fast, and this is my third week of residence here.

Still remember the nights before the departure to Sydney, mom had to use extra comforting words to soothe my bengkak eyes and heart, and dad was busy copying dvd movies into my external. Still, i cannot thank them enough for this wonderful opportunity, though i am 7 hours away from home.

How is ANU you ask? Not to brag or anything but it is the top university for a reason. =P So i'm glad that i have chosen ANU.

Canberra is a tad deceiving. Tricked by the desert-looking outskirts, and terribly fooled by many negative remarks. But when you first set foot (feet? =S) into Canberra Centre, a shopping complex located at the heart of the city, images of One Utama are brought to mind. What more, there are two large shopping malls which are located someplace else and they resemble Sunway Pyramid and Megamall! Oh great heavens!

So shopping indulgence cannot be fully terminated. Muahah! But fear not Papa and Mama, so far i have not spent lots on these miscellaneous stuffs.

Ok, back to ANU. We have 6 libraries, 6 faculties, one ASLC centre where you get attain essay writing skills and academic tips. The university is surrounded and sheltered by majestic trees and lots. ANU staff people are very friendly and very helpful.

Tons of BBQs to begin with, and lots and lots of carcinogens in my body.
Food here are not cheap!

Mcd cost Aud5.45 for fillet.

Asian food is the worst! The cheapest fried rice cost Aud6.

Goodness. My resolution for the summer break to learn cooking from mom.

Cafes in ANU here are pretty good, so far my favourite place to eat is Pajenka's, just ate 3 1/2 pieces of pizza this lunch! I pigged out.

I have a mentor, Yuuichi, Japanese-Chinese mix, who is studying 3rd year Actuarial Studies. Ironically, he has showed me every reason not to continue doing Actuarial Studies, given that one it is hard, two it is boring, three crazy people finish Actuarial.

But who says I'm not crazy anyways...

So far, academically, finance is my biggest challenge, microeconomics is still managable, so are math application honours and business reporting.

Kinda similar to what i did for SAM, but still gonna hang on to reach my goal!

Lecturers wise, my favourite have to be Dr. Jane Golley for micro. She is da bomb! PHD from Oxford! Don't play play wei!

Finance is alright, but sometimes i cannot really catch what he is trying to convey.

The worst so far have to be business. But after the video presentation he showed us today, maybe i should nurture little faith in him. =P

The people I hang out with are a bunch of silly, cute and of course, sincere people.

To shout out a few, Melissa, Wei Ling, June, Regina, Daniel (yes YOU! XD), Afiq, Shawn, Hanisha, Marcus, Yeam, Hardeep, Yong Jian, Carol Kauthar, and many more...

Unilodge-ians like Shiori, Dennis, Krishna, Dorothy my apartment mate, Helen, Jean and so on...

Haha! mostly Malaysians.

Cuz most Malaysians are taking Actuarial Studies.

Malaysia's going to be overpopulated by actuaries. =P

Pictures from Canberra
It's 1am here in Canberra. And just got back from some stupid fire drill. I literally ran out of my apartment with Pjs and Pink Panther slippers...=S

On the 11th February, a bunch of friends and I went to a Night Out in Canberra, where we did bar hopping, literally from one nightclub to another. Met lots of people, sober and drunk, but it was all clean fun.

Danced all night, from 8 something to 11 something. Freakin' tiring but sweet!!!

Pictures are still with Wei Ling, a girl from Penang I've met. So as soon as I get them, I'll post it here.

Uploaded some pictures of my Welcome Dinner/Bush Dance organized by International Education Office, and thought, heck why not post it on my blog. =P

Sorry lah! I damn lazy and it is sooo expensive to log on to the internet. So probably just going to upload some pweety pics about Canberra and ANU, stuff like that...

For those who care, we look alright! except for me, having sunburns =/

Afiq enjoying his dessert...yummy!

Melissa and me.

Girl power!!

Some very nice people I've met! Hugs*

Valentines Day was any typical day. Morning Market Day was held where all the clubs and societies came together and did recruitment.

For those who care (again), I've joined Actuarial Students' Association, Singapore Student Association, Malaysian Students Organization, United Nations Youth Association, Economics and Commerce Society, and Bahai Society.

WAIT!!!!

People who knew me must be thinking...WHERE's DANCE CLUB!?!?!?!

They do not have dance club!!!! Only dance classes offered by the Sports and Recreation Society.

So mission for 2nd year for me...is to create one. Tee-Hee!!

Dinner was at Oriential Kitchen, and since we've got the Singapore Students' Association card, we are entitled to a 5% discount! (Heheh, main reason why we join that club. =P)

Lyon patiently waiting...

Sunburned yet, canwhoring.

Lyon's Combination Laksa...

which was pretty good...

and my nasi lemak...

effing miserable right??!?!?! The nuts was wrong!!! ARgh!!! and it was AUD11!!!!

AUD 11 for that plate!!

I MISS NASI LEMAK IN MALAYSIA!!!!

The sambal they gave was pathetic, so i had to tambah more.

and of course, finished it at the end. Haizz...

Overall, it was a totally awesome, weird, and new experience. So mama papa, don't worry. I'm alright here. Friends, be patient with me as I slowly take my time to upload pictures!

Love you guys and I'll see you soon! MuaXx!

Moved to Tears - Farewell Gathering with Uncles and Family
I had a farewell dinner at Valencia Restaurant, located in a Selayang Condominium, with 3 of my dad's best mates aka Golf Kaki, Uncle Eng, Uncle Desmond, and Uncle Koo and of course, their families.

They presented me with a card, filled with well wishes, with pictures courtesy of Ivan himself. I was very touched by their kind gestures.
